Yak
overview
Yaks are long-haired bovines native to the high-altitude regions of the Himalayas and Central Asia, renowned for their strength and resilience. Their thick, shaggy coats and dense underfur keep them warm in extreme cold, while their large lungs allow them to thrive at high elevations. Domesticated yaks are vital to local communities, providing milk, meat, wool, and even transportation in challenging terrain. Wild yaks, however, face threats from habitat loss and hunting.
