Can I visit African Lion Safari?

What is open?

Our main attraction, the drive through Game Reserves, is open as well as access to the walking path, Tusker Trail!  Down Tusker Trail, visitors can see our Birds of Prey Conservation Centre, Pets’ Corner area, Mombasa Market Restaurant, Gift Shops and Asian Elephants at the Elephant Look-Out.  “Nature Boy” Scenic Railway, “African Queen” Boat Cruise and Children’s Playgrounds are open as of July 19, 2021.  Our Parrot Paradise presentation and Birds of Prey Flying Demonstration are now available several times a day.


Please be advised that Misumu Bay Wetplay is closed for the season as of September 6, 2021.

Is the Safari Tour Bus available?

Unfortunately, due to COVID-19 and social distancing requirements, our Safari Tour Bus is not available to the public.  All visitors must drive through and remain in their own vehicle.


Please ensure your vehicle meets our vehicle restrictions prior to your arrival.

Will all of the animals be out in the Game Reserves?

Unfortunately, due to COVID-19 some animals, like our troop of baboons, will not be on display in the Game Reserves.  African Lion Safari reserves the right to change animal displays without notice.

Can I feed the animals?

Can I bring my pet/Service Animal to African Lion Safari?

For the safety of our birds and animals, staff and other guests, pets are not permitted in our drive through Game Reserves or on African Lion Safari property.  Please leave all pets at home.  Kennels are not available at this time.

Are visitors able to get out of their vehicle and walk around?

Yes!  Our walking area, down Tusker Trail, is open to visitors!  Visit our Pets’ Corner area, our Birds of Prey Conservation Area and some of our Asian Elephants.  Stop by our Gift Shop, underneath Kenya Gate, and visit our restaurant for several take away options!  Set sail on the “African Queen” Boat Cruise, journey aboard the “Nature Boy” Scenic Railway and enjoy children’s playgrounds.

How does the timed ticketing work?

We ask that visitors select a time for entry into the park as well as the drive through Game Reserves.  This helps us manage park capacity and traffic flow in the drive through Game Reserves.

What methods of payment does the park accept at retail and food service locations?

Are food and beverage available?

Yes!  Select food locations are now open throughout the park for take away items such as pizza, burgers, fries, ice cream and of course, funnel cake!

I bought tickets for a certain date and now I am unable to attend. Can I change the date of my ticket?

Visitors are asked to e-mail for assistance.

Do I have to print my tickets?

Once you receive your admission e-tickets by e-mail, you can show it directly on your mobile device, with barcodes visible, or print it out and have it ready for us!

What is your refund policy?

African Lion Safari has a no refund policy.

Do you offer rain passes?

No, we do not offer rain passes or rain checks due to inclement weather.  African Lion Safari’s drive through Game Reserves operate rain or shine.

Can I upgrade my admission ticket to a Season Passport?

I'm a Season Passport holder - how do I access my digital passes?

On our homepage, select “Member Portal” in the top right hand corner and log-in.  Select “Digital Passes”.  We can scan directly from your mobile device, or you can print them off at home.

I'm a Season Passport holder - do I need to secure a time slot?

No – you are welcome to come any time between our hours of operation.

Do you have wheelchairs/wagons available for rent?

Yes, we have wheelchairs available to rent for $5.00 and wagons available to rent for $8 at our Safari Bazaar Gift Shop, located underneath Kenya Gate!  With each rental, a security deposit is applied, and refunded when the rental is returned.  All rentals will be cleaned and sanitized before each use.
