COVID-19 STATEMENT

Jambo! African Lion Safari is excited to welcome guests back to the park for its 2021 season!

 

The effects of COVID-19 are widespread, and consequently, for the health and safety of our animals, staff and visitors, the park had to make adjustments to its operations, animal displays and programs.  Some features, tours, and attractions that are not conducive to physical distancing will be closed initially, including Misumu Bay Wetplay.  Under the advice and guidance of our Veterinarian and animal care staff some species including our troop of Baboons will not be on display this season.

 

As part of your day “On Safari!™” visitors will have the opportunity to get closer to majestic birds and animals from around the world, as they drive along 9 kilometers of trail in the comfort of their own vehicle.  Visit our Pets’ Corner area to see Lemurs, Squirrel monkeys, Macaws, Toucans as well as our Birds of Prey Conservation area.  Travel down Tusker Trail to some of our amazing Asian Elephants!

 

Mombasa Market Restaurant , select outdoor food locations and our new food truck will be open to the public for take out options such as pizza, burgers, fries, ice cream and of course, funnel cake!   Guests will be able to enjoy food and beverages on outside patios, with tables set up for physical distancing.   Visit our Gift Shop, located underneath Kenya Gate, to shop for souvenirs from your day!

 

In an effort to help prevent the spread of COVID-19, African Lion Safari has implemented several health and safety measures throughout the park.

 

  • All guests must purchase tickets in advance online
  • African Lion Safari will open with limited capacity in the park in order to accommodate physical distancing.
  • All guests over 2 years of age, and who are medically capable, must wear a face covering inside all buildings (Restaurant, Retail), inside our washroom facilities or when speaking to an employee.
  • Enhanced cleaning measures are performed for all facilities and high touch surfaces.
  • Frequent cleaning and sanitization of restrooms including a deep cleaning at the end of each day
  • Physical distancing signage throughout the park, and queue lines for capacity control has been implemented at all restrooms, and food and retail locations.
  • Contactless payment throughout the park using debit or credit cards

 

As part of our commitment and shared responsibility, we ask that all individuals visiting African Lion Safari follow Public Health guidelines as well as park regulations to reduce the risk of COVID-19 spread.  All guests must perform self-screening prior to coming to African Lion Safari https://covid-19.ontario.ca/self-assessment/

 

Guests should not visit African Lion Safari if they are experiencing any of the following COVID-19 symptoms:

 

  • New onset or worsening chronic cough
  • Sore throat, runny or congested nose (not related to other cause like allergies)
  • Shortness of breath
  • Nausea, vomiting, diarrhea or abdominal pain
  • Chills
  • Unexplained headache
  • Loss of taste or smell
  • If, in the last 14 days, you have tested positive or if you have been in close contact with someone who has been diagnosed with or has symptoms of COVID-19 in the last 14 days
  • If,  in the last 14 days, you have travelled outside of Canada

2021 SEASON UPDATE

African Lion Safari is excited to welcome guests back to the park for the 2021 season when it is safe to do so.  The park continues to monitor Public Health regulations to ensure a safe re-opening.

 

As Canada’s Original Safari Adventure, African Lion Safari offers guests a safe and enjoyable experience with the opportunity to drive through 7 large Game Reserves in the comfort of their own vehicle.  Staff are working hard to prepare for opening and to ensure all park attractions and tours, if permitted, are operational for the 2021 season.  At this time, plans for Misumu Bay Wetplay have yet to be determined.

 

For the health and safety of our animals, staff and visitors, the park had to make adjustments to its operations, animal displays and programs.  Under the guidance and advice of our Veterinarian and animal care team, some animal species including our troop of Baboons will not be on display this season.

 

As announced last year, the park was pleased to extend the validity of 2020 season passes through the 2021 season.  African Lion Safari has implemented a new online ticketing system with a member portal for all season pass holders. We are currently reaching out to our 2020 season pass holders to ensure a smooth transition.  If you have not yet been contacted, please contact us at admin@lionsafari.com.

 

As we receive more guidance from Provincial and Local health authorities, African Lion Safari hopes to announce its opening date soon as well as the availability of single day tickets online.  New season pass purchases for the 2021 will be announced shortly, stay connected by signing up for our E-newsletter or via our social media platforms.

TUSKER TRAIL IS NOW OPEN! 

 

As part of your day “On Safari!™” visitors may now explore our walking area!  Visit our Pets’ Corner area to see Lemurs, Squirrel monkeys, Macaws, Toucans as well as our Birds of Prey Conservation area.  Travel down Tusker Trail to see some of our Asian Elephants!  At this time, park attractions such as Misumu Bay Wetplay, playgrounds, presentations and tours, are still closed to the public.

Community involvement is integral to the survival of many businesses including our wildlife park.  African Lion Safari is a privately owned company.  Guests purchasing tickets to our wildlife farm fund all park operations, efforts in our breeding programmes, research projects and the conservation of wildlife here at the park and in range countries.
