Ostrich

overview

The ostrich is the world’s largest and fastest-running bird, native to the savannas and deserts of Africa. Males have black feathers with white plumes on wings and tail; females are smaller and are dull-grey brown in colour. Ostrich spread their small wings when running, using their powerful long legs to attain speeds of up to 70km/hr. Ostriches are also famous for their enormous eggs, the largest of any bird species!
